EARLY BREAST CANCER DIAGNOSIS IS CURABLE

TMC Clark Breast Center
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), breast cancer is the most frequent cancer among women, affecting 2.1 million women each year. It also causes the greatest number of cancer-related deaths among women.
In the Philippines, WHO recorded 24,794 new breast cancer cases with 8,057 deaths cased by breast cancer in 2019. The Philippine Cancer Network noted that one out of 13 Filipino women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. It is also important to note that the Philippines has the highest incidence rate of breast cancer in Asia and registered the highest increase of 589 percent among 187 countries over a 30 year period from 1980 to 2010.
Despite these statistics, the chances of surviving the disease are much higher if the patient is diagnosed and treated early. Early detection saves lives.

Digital Mammogram vs Conventional Mammogram

Mammograms are X-ray of the breast. The images can be captured on film (conventional) or stored directly onto a computer (digital). The Medical City Clark Breast Center operates digital mammogram.
Conventional Mammogram
Conventional mammograms are read and stored on film, which may result in false positives or inaccurate diagnosis.
♀ Uses X-ray radiation
♀ May give an inaccurate diagnosis
♀ Detects fewer cancers than a digital mammogram
Digital Mammogram
Digital mammogram images are stored on a computer and can be easily shared electronically, allowing multiple providers to share necessary data in order to improve your care.
♀ Less radiation
♀ Better picture clarity
♀ Ability to alter the photos afterward
♀ Accurately detects abnormal changes
♀ Catches small changes that could be early signs of breast cancer
The Medical City Clark Breast Center offers state-of-the-art technology in Digital Mammography which allows our breast-certified radiologists to see greater detail and fine lines more clearly than a Conventional Mammogram. We have a comprehensive breast center for women who require additional diagnostic and treatment services.
